Dan Hammer is a Managing Partner at Earthrise, the winner of the Pritzker Environmental Genius Award, and the first Climate Fellow at X (Google). He has served as a Presidential Innovation Fellow at NASA and a Senior Policy Advisor for data infrastructure in the Obama White House. Dan was the Chief Data Scientist at the World Resources Institute, where he built the first few versions of Global Forest Watch — a site to monitor deforestation from satellite imagery. He has been a Fellow at National Geographic, the Berkeley Institute of Data Science, the Lang Center, and the Watson Foundation. Dan has a BA in mathematics and economics from Swarthmore College, and a PhD in environmental economics from UC Berkeley, where he received the top young alumnus award in 2019.
