In order to ensure that we set audacious but achievable goals in this prize competition, we need to both establish a baseline for conventional chicken production and know how plant- and cell-based chicken alternatives are currently performing.

As you can see in the chart below, there are a number of gaps (the red dots) in our research, which we hope the community can fill in.

For chicken and chicken alternatives, we’re missing the following environmental metrics:

  • Energy production of conventional chicken and plant-based chicken alternatives.
  • Water pollution of cell-based chicken alternatives.

We’d appreciate any guidance you can provide in order to help us establish these metrics!

We’re missing various metrics for the production of conventional chicken as well as plant- and cell-based chicken alternatives, specifically related to water pollution and energy.

We need these figures to help us decide what targets to set in the prize competition.
